About the Posters

This poster series explores how simple shapes, bold composition and visual rhythm can be used to communicate ideas quickly and memorably.

The work focuses on stripped-back illustration, strong colour choices and clear graphic structure. Each poster was developed to feel direct and visually engaging, using minimal detail to create a stronger sense of impact.

Visual Language

The visual language is based on flat colour, simplified bodies and clear compositional structure. Instead of adding detail, I focused on reducing each scene to its most important shapes.

In the first poster, the figures gather around and interact with large orange forms, creating a busy but controlled composition. In the later posters, the work becomes more minimal, using shadows, roads, water, landscape shapes and small figures to explore the same idea in a quieter way.

Shape, Movement and Perspective

A key part of the series is the relationship between the figures and the shapes they carry or encounter. Some posters show the shape as something physical and collaborative, while others make it feel distant, directional or almost abstract.

The road-based poster introduces a sense of journey and movement, using a top-down view to show figures travelling through a landscape. The shadow posters strip this back even further, turning the figures into small points within a much larger composition. This helped me explore how scale can change the meaning of an image.

Built Through Simplicity

Each poster is designed to work through simple visual decisions: where the image sits, how much empty space surrounds it, and how the viewer’s eye moves across the page.

The series uses a consistent title treatment and clean white space, but each poster has its own rhythm. Some are dense and character-led, while others are sparse and more conceptual. Together, they show how a single idea can be developed into multiple visual outcomes.

Reflection

This project helped me understand how poster design can communicate through reduction. By removing unnecessary detail, I was able to focus more on composition, hierarchy and the relationship between text and image.

If I developed the series further, I would continue exploring how the same concept could be adapted across print, exhibition graphics and digital formats, while keeping the clean, minimal visual identity consistent.
