Cut-Back is a surf and board culture magazine and brand that I created as part of a passion project.

About the concept
Cut-Back is a surf magazine and website concept designed to show how a strong visual identity can turn a simple idea into a complete brand experience.
The project combines web design, editorial layout, logo styling, image direction and content structure to create a platform that feels distinctive, targeted and ready for an audience. It demonstrates how I can help a brand build a clearer online presence through considered visuals, consistent design choices and a strong sense of atmosphere.
Web Design and Structure
The website was designed to feel bold, direct and easy to navigate. I focused on creating a clear homepage structure, with featured articles, subscription prompts, image-led content and simple navigation.
For a client, this kind of approach could be used to turn an idea, business or publication into a functioning website that feels professional and visually memorable. The aim is not just to make a site look good, but to make it easy for people to understand what the brand is, what it offers and where to go next.

Brand Identity
Cut-Back uses a strong black-and-white visual identity with sharp borders, textured backgrounds, bold typography and red accent details. These choices help create a recognisable style that fits the energy of surf culture while still feeling clean and controlled.
This shows how I can develop a consistent visual direction for a brand, including logo use, colour palette, typography, imagery and layout style. For small businesses or start-ups, this kind of identity system can help make the brand feel more professional, recognisable and confident.
Editorial and Content Layout
As well as the website, Cut-Back includes magazine-style layouts and article design. This gave me the chance to explore how images, headlines and written content can work together across both digital and print formats.
For potential clients, this links to services such as social media graphics, digital articles, posters, newsletters, lookbooks, zines and promotional layouts. The project shows how one visual style can be adapted across different formats while still feeling connected.

Designed for Audience Engagement
The Cut-Back concept includes subscription areas, featured stories, article previews and contact sections. These elements were designed to make the site feel more than just visual — they give the audience clear ways to interact with the brand.
This is the kind of thinking I want to bring into client work: designing websites and brand materials that support real goals, whether that is building interest, encouraging enquiries, sharing content or creating a stronger first impression.
Services this project provides:
This project reflects the type of work I can offer to new and growing businesses, especially those looking to develop a stronger visual presence.
Through a project like this, I can help with website design concepts, brand identity, layout design, digital graphics, editorial design, content presentation and visual direction. The aim is to create work that feels clear, consistent and suited to the audience it needs to reach.
